Two villages with a lot of history in the walls
Lindfield and Cuckfield are the two Mid Sussex villages that people picture when they imagine a pretty English high street. Lindfield has a long, tree-lined High Street, a pond and a common, with timber-framed and Georgian buildings along it. Cuckfield sits on a hill with its own historic High Street and a mix of Tudor, Georgian and Victorian houses around the church.
Houses like these are lovely and demanding. Beams collect dust that a regular duster does not lift. Leaded and small-paned windows take longer to do than a modern sheet of glass. Stone and uneven wooden floors need mopping carefully, not soaking.
Old homes need a gentle clean
Eco-friendly products are particularly well suited to period homes. Strong chemicals can mark old timber, dull natural stone and strip finishes from antique furniture. Our cleaning uses vinegar for glass and limescale, lemon for grease and freshness, and bicarbonate of soda for sinks and stains, which are effective without being harsh on delicate surfaces.
Your cleaner learns the house over the first few visits, including which pieces are fragile, which surfaces are not to be touched and where the damp tends to collect in winter. That knowledge is the reason we keep the same cleaner with you.
Big gardens, boots and dogs
Houses on the edge of the villages often back onto fields, common land or the Downs, which means muddy walking boots and dogs coming in and out. A weekly or fortnightly clean at £20 an hour, with a two hour minimum, keeps the hall, kitchen floor and boot room under control. If your property is bigger or has several reception rooms, we agree the hours with you first.
For a seasonal reset, a deep clean at £30 an hour covers the skirting boards, sills, light fittings and the inside of the fridge and dishwasher. Oven cleaning is charged as a supplement, so please ask us when booking.
Selling, letting or moving on
When a period property goes on the market or changes tenants, presentation matters. A deep clean before viewings or an end of tenancy clean at £30 an hour leaves the house at its best, and the old features show properly when the dust is gone.
